Privacy Policy

Your recordings never leave your Mac. AirCheck records to your own hard drive and nowhere else. There is no cloud, no account, no upload, no analytics inside the app and no telemetry of any kind. Nobody, including me, can hear or access what you record.
This policy covers the AirCheck app for macOS and the website at aircheckaudio.com. It is written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, email me and I will answer it in plain words.
Who is responsible
AirCheck is a one-person operation. The controller for the purposes of the GDPR is:

What the app does
AirCheck makes exactly one network request, ever. When you paste in
your licence key, it sends that key to aircheckaudio.com/api/licence/verify
to check that it is real and has not been refunded. The reply is a yes or a no.
That request contains the licence key and nothing else. It does not include your audio, your file names, your device identifier, your IP-derived location, your macOS version or a list of what you have recorded. The app does not phone home on a schedule, does not check for updates, and works entirely offline once activated.

Card numbers never reach my servers. Checkout is handled entirely by Stripe on Stripe's own pages. I receive a confirmation that a payment succeeded, your email address and your billing address — never the card details themselves.
Who else touches your data
- Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. — payment processing, invoicing and fraud prevention. Stripe acts as its own controller for payment data.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting, the licence database and the email that delivers your key.
- Google Ireland Ltd. — advertising conversion measurement on the website only. Not present in the app.
That is the complete list. Your data is not sold, rented, brokered, or handed to anyone for advertising or model training.
How long it is kept
Your licence record is kept for as long as your licence is valid, so that the app can keep verifying it and so you can recover a lost key. Invoices and payment records are kept for ten years, because German tax law requires it. Advertising cookies expire within ninety days.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask me for a copy of everything I hold about you, ask me to correct it, ask me to delete it, ask me to send it to you in a portable format, or object to a particular use. Email mail@hanneshennerbichler.de and I will action it within thirty days. There is no form and no fee.
One honest limit: if you ask me to delete your purchase record, your licence key stops verifying and the app will deactivate, because the record is the licence. I will tell you before I do it. I cannot delete invoices inside the ten-year retention period, but I can restrict them from all other use.
You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. Mine is the Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen.
Cookies
The website sets no cookies until you accept advertising measurement. Nothing on this site is tracked for profiling or sold to a data broker. You can withdraw consent by clearing cookies for aircheckaudio.com; the site and the app work identically without them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, I will change the date at the top and email anyone holding a licence. I will not quietly widen it.
